Can providers bill Sick Time if I am asked to stop working or choose to stop working with my consumer due to COVID-19 concerns?
In light of increased unemployment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the State of Arizona recently issued additional funding and provisions made to Sick Time policies. Because Absolute has over 500 employees, we did not receive said funding or mandated provisions to be made to our Sick Time policies. This means nothing has changed in regards to billing Sick Time with Absolute. If you are sick or you have a family member who is sick and you must care for them, you may log Sick Time for hours you were scheduled to work but cannot due to illness. It may not be used for shifts that were not already scheduled, nor can Sick Time be used due to a reduction in hours or for financial hardship. Absolute HCBS understands, however, the reduction in hours may be adversely affecting our staff and we want to support you. In an effort to do so, our management team has committed to giving up a portion of their income to create the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. We are still working on the application and determiniation process with hopes of sending that to all providers next week. Please keep an eye out for thsi should you find yourself in need.
