As things heat up around the valley, we notice that many of that Absolute HCBS families are starting to plan road trips to explore surrounding areas. Still looking for ideas? Our team has put together this blog post with some of our favorites!
The Grand Canyon – This is a national favorite, and there’s no wonder why! This amazing canyon is quite the sight to see. Located about four hours north of Phoenix, the temperatures are drastically cooler during the summer months.
Four Corners Monument – Have you ever been in four states at the same time? Six hours north-east of Phoenix, this monument is at the point where Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico all meet.
San Diego – Cool off with some ocean air! This is just over a five-hour trip from Phoenix, and there is so much to do to explore San Diego! Check out the famous San Diego Zoo, explore Balboa Park, or just enjoy splashing in the ocean.
Lake Powell – Getting to Lake Powell is a bit of a longer trip, but it is worth it for a long weekend or even a week-long stay! Lake Powell is about a nine-hour drive from Phoenix, but you can enjoy the lake and the breathtaking views in a variety of different ways.
Albuquerque – It’s about a seven-hour drive from Phoenix to Albuquerque. It’s a fun city to visit year-round, but it’s especially magical in October during the annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.
San Antonio – This destination is a bit further, about 13 hours by car, but we promise you it will be worth it! Perfect for a long one-day trip or two travel days. San Antonio offers great history, food, and plenty of things to do. Our favorite though? Morgan’s Inspiration Island. Every part of this water park is wheelchair accessible, and the fun can be shared by everyone. Learn more here.
Las Vegas & Hoover Dam – This iconic city is about a five-hour drive from Phoenix, but it offers entertainment for people of all ages! Rollercoasters, amazing shows, and famous restaurants make Las Vegas a popular travel destination. On your way to Las Vegas, we encourage you to check out the Hoover Dam! This dam on the Colorado River sits at the border between Nevada and Arizona and is quite the engineering feat.
Los Angeles – Just under six hours, a road trip to Los Angeles can be a fun long-weekend adventure for your family. Your family can spend time on the beach, take a tour of Hollywood, or catch a sports game with some of the world’s most famous professional teams.
